A 23-year old woman who is accused of abusing her 1-year old son, and sending the disturbing images to family and friends of the baby’s father, is expected to appear before a judge next month.
Janelle Andrea Peterkin, who is facing charges of child endangerment, is free on a $15,000 bond.
According to court documents, Peterkin allegedly recorded videos of her abusing her son and sent the videos to the family of the child’s father.
The videos allegedly showed Peterkin abusing the baby, by slapping the child, and burning the child with a cigarette lighter.
According to court documents, Peterkin also allegedly stuffed a plastic bag in the child’s mouth and tied a plastic bag around the baby’s head.
The videos were sent to Harris County Precinct 4 Constables, after they went to a daycare in north Harris County to conduct welfare check on the infant.
An out of state family member sent the videos to alert the deputies of her behavior toward the infant.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office Child Abuse Unit investigators were asked to take over the case.
Investigators said they interviewed Peterkin and she admitted making the videos to show her ex-boyfriend and father of her child he did not care enough about their baby.
Peterkin could face up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.
